The Indie Club is the North’s main networking group for television programme makers and those running independent TV production companies. The club, which is run by programme makers in the independent sector, has over 450 members.
The Indie Club meets once a month (apart from January and August) and always has a speaker from one or two of the following four categories:
- Commissioners - who make us aware of the kind of programming they are looking for
- Successful programme makers - who give a master class on their best work
- Media business support organizations, players & thinkers - who talk about new initiatives, future proofing, generating new revenue streams and creating successful cross media collaborations
- Specialist companies or individuals - who offer services to programme makers such as, CGI; music composition; business affairs; legals & compliance; casting etc.
Past speakers include Stephen Lambert, Willy Russell, Paul Abbott, Maxine Watson, Sita Williams, Andrew Jackson, Alex Fraser, Carolyn Reynolds, Tina Flintoff, Sumi Connock, Pam Cavannagh and Alex Connock.
Meetings are also a great place to meet new employers or employees; hear the latest industry gossip; start creative collaborations; find out about training initiatives and grants. We usually have a sponsor too, so you can have a free drink!
